Ancient Hawaiian Population
In the times of ancient Hawaii, the Hawaiians lived in isolation from the rest of the world. There was no contact between cultures, peoples, and religions, so the Hawaiians made up the entire population of the Hawaiian islands. There were about 300,000 Hawaiians living before contact with the outside world.
Post Contact Population of Hawaii
After the Hawaiian Islands were brought into the world, Hawaii became a crucial sea port in the Pacific, exposing it to all kinds of peoples and cultures. The white men made a large part of Hawaii's population. Asian workers also made a large part of the population of Hawaii. As time went on, more of Hawaii's population was made up more of foreigners than Native Hawaiians, especially white men and Asians. Many Hawaiians had either died of disease or had left the islands in search for jobs in another country, so most of Hawaii's population was composed, not of Native Hawaiians, but of people who came to Hawaii, or were the sons and daughters of said people.
Modern Population of Hawaii
In our world today, Hawaii has a blend of many cultures and peoples. Being close to Asia, and with our history with Asia, a large percentage of Hawaii's population is of Asian descent. We also have a large population of Caucasians in Hawaii. According to the 2010 census, every one in three people in Hawaii is of Asian descent, and every one in four is of Caucasian descent. Only about every one in ten are of native Hawaiian and other Pacific Islander descent.
Future Population of Hawaii
Hawaii's population for the majority of its time in the world scene has been largely Asian. I predict that the Asian population will always have a majority percentage of Hawaii. The other ethnicities may fluctuate, but Asians and more than likely white people will hold a large percentage of Hawaii's population.
